|Title||S-1 launches face recognition reader that control access with face recognition alone|
A total security solution provider, S-1 (CEO Yook Hyun-pyo), announced on November 11 that it launched a convenient and secure face recognition reader with the face recognition function. S-1 has been applying the face recognition function to walk-through speed gate, but developed this product for installation in stores and offices.
S-1’s face recognition reader allows you to enter after simple face authentication in front of the gate. When both hands are full of bags or if you are holding coffees, if you look into the camera without an ID card or fingerprint recognition, you can enter conveniently.
The face recognition algorithm, developed by S-1, is applied to this product. The face recognition algorithm is a technology certified by KISA (Korea Internet and Security Agency). As its authentication success rate is 99.99%, you can conveniently use it without misrecognition. Also, as AI (artificial intelligence) is applied to it, it can automatically recognize faces that change over time. So no re-registration is necessary.
Its convenience and security are enhanced. Existing fingerprint recognition could be copied, and ID cards had security vulnerabilities, e.g. they could be transferred to others or they might be lost, but the face recognition function eliminated these weaknesses, enhancing security. Also, for customers requiring a high level of security, double authentication, e.g. face recognition+ID card or face recognition+password, is possible. So security can be further improved.
S-1’s face recognition reader, which is both convenient and secure, is expected to be applied to facilities requiring a high level of security as well as general offices, factories and government offices.
"We developed the face recognition reader in consideration of both user convenience and security," said Vice-president Park Young-soo, Customer Support Office of S-1. "S-1 will use state-of-the-art technology to help customers do valuable work and live a valuable life, and become a partner providing customers with convenience and security."
